The 25th Amendment: Reagan and Biden

 

In 1987, at the age of 76, Republicans became concerned enough, that they held a meeting at which several major figures in the Reagan Administration sat around the president to listen, watch , and ask him questions - trying to discern whether he was mentally present.  There had been stories about his lackadaisical manner - lack of interest in reading or listening to people drone on about whatever bureaucratic issue.  These Republicans were considering invoking the 25th Amendment.  What they found was that Reagan was mentally present, sometimes distracted, but fully aware - especially when the issue was of interest, and was not as had been described as 'inattentive and inept'.  

Reagan had ear damage from his acting days when a gun went off near his ear.  He lost hearing or considerable amount of hearing in that ear - so when people talked to him from the wrong side, he would often appear as if he was inattentive.  He also preferred one on one discussions instead of official meetings where too much noise made it difficult to hear clearly.  Then it was 'inattentive and inept' - today we would call in ADA and demand the meetings be changed.  

The point of this is illustrate at 76, REPUBLICANS considered the possibility of removal of a REPUBLICAN president.

Today we have a man who is 82 who will still be president when the election rolls around.  And NO DEMOCRATS have considered removing him for any host of issues - dementia, alzheimers, inept, inattentive.  He has had more vacation time than any president.  I believe at least 40% of his time as president he has been on vacation.  Reagan in 8 years spent 11.5% of his time on vacation, plus whatever naps he took in the White House (not to ignore Biden's very packed schedule which includes plenty of nap time).  6 years older than Reagan and clearly showing terribly evident signs of not being capable of doing the job YET NO DEMOCRAT has stepped forward, like the Republicans did in 1987 - to evaluate Biden.  They know he will fail.  

Character.  Politics.  

So why haven't Democrats done the same thing?  

Never in his 8 years did Reagan show such abysmal recall, memory issues, or failure to grasp the reality of the moment.  Distracted but not mentally feeble.  Reagan was on duty.  Biden is on vacation.

And Democrats will not do what is in the best interest of the country because they are too busy playing politics.  For this reason alone, they deserve to lose in 9 months.   

Our nation is more important than party.  It is more important than one man or a few men and women.  


Shame.  Shame.  Shame.

    Not up until 10ish and not able to function past 4 plus 40% of the time on vacation. What a taxing job ... but he is 82 so ok!

No time to stop and read the details! Just smokin'
